Engineering advisory Tate Consulting has made four new appointments to its Belfast office. The appointments of Warren Smyth, Tony Shek, Ruari Mulvenna and Roger Dawson come after winning a wide range of prestigious contracts.
Tate Consulting is a multi-discipline building services engineering practice that provides a strategic and innovative approach to delivering engineering and management consultancy services for its clients. Earlier in 2022, the Leeds headquartered company launched a new office in Belfast, which now hosts a team of nine professionals, and plans to recruit more mechanical and electrical engineers at all levels in the coming months.
Warren Smyth is one of the latest cohort to join the office. Arriving as a Senior Electrical Engineer, Smyth joins following an eight-year spell with AECOM.
Tony Shek meanwhile joins as an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer. Bringing seven years of experience to the role, Shek was most recently employed by Caldwell Consulting Engineers.
Ruari Mulvenna becomes a Graduate Mechanical Engineer with Tate. Prior to the appointment, he spent the best part of a year with as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with Randox Clinical Laboratory Services.
Roger Dawson also arrives as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. He similarly spent the past year as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in Capita’s real estate and infrastructure wing.
The Belfast office is headed up by an experienced team comprising of Belfast born Jim Lee, who has been a board director at Tate Consulting for the past nine years, and associate director, Aaron Stevenson who brought more than 25 years’ experience to the firm.

Tate Consulting provides a full range of commercial engineering solutions from MEP concept design to project handover and post-occupancy evaluation, as well as building physics, fire engineering services, sustainability and building performance assessments and master planning. It is currently working on numerous high-profile projects in Northern Ireland, such as the upcoming Belfast Waterside development of 500 homes.
