EY has acquired Digital Detox, a London-based technology and software consultancy with around 30 staff.
“This is a really exciting acquisition for EY,” said Benoit Laclau, UK & Ireland Managing Partner for Consulting at EY. “It supports the growth of our technology consulting business, bringing additional capabilities and skills.”
The move is part of EY’s growth agenda for its UK & Ireland consulting business. Having already pumped nearly £100 million in the wing since 2020, the Big Four firm is investing another £75 million over the next four years with the aim of doubling the size of the division.
Inorganic growth is an integral part of the strategy, with Digital Detox the second deal since the announcement of the growth roadmap in April.
After acquiring Irish technology firm Client Solutions, the UK & Ireland consulting business also welcomed a new team to its Customer & Growth practice, although the acquisition of Blackdot was formally closed by EY’s Australian member firm.
Founded in 2004, Digital Detox is a digital engineering consultancy specialising in custom software development for digital applications.
“The acquisition will bring a range of new capabilities and skills to support EY clients across four important sectors – health wellness and sciences, real estate hospitality, construction, and technology, media and telecoms,” explained Alison Kay, UK & Ireland Managing Partner for Client Services at EY.
For EY’s technology consulting outfit, the deal builds on a string of previous tech-focused acquisitions, including Pythagoras (2021), Seaton Partners (2021), AgilityWorks (2019), and Seren (2015).
Meanwhile, for Digital Detox, the joining of forces with one of the globe’s largest consulting firms will enable the company’s team to “accelerate their growth and work with clients around the world on their transformation journeys,” said Donovan Justice, CEO of Digital Detox.
