Business and financial advisory firm Grant Thornton UK has announced the promotion of Isabel Thomas to Director of Corporate Tax. Based in the firm’s Gatwick office, she will support clients as they look to navigate changes in the UK’s corporate tax regime.
Grant Thornton’s corporate tax team’s leadership team provides firms with the commercial tax advice required to overcome a variety of challenges such as international growth, legislative compliance and managing large-scale, multi-national operations. In her role as Director, Thomas will have a particular focus on those companies with the most complex needs so they can effectively achieve their strategic priorities whilst managing tax risk and maximising opportunities. She will work closely alongside Grant Thornton’s multiple teams and services to ensure that businesses receive the specialised and multifaceted support they require.
Alan Richardson, Head of South Tax at Grant Thornton, commented, “Celebrating Isabel’s promotion is a fantastic testament to both her skills and dedication as well as the culture of continual development and support at Grant Thornton. Having started at the firm as a graduate, it is a real privilege to promote someone from within with as much talent as Isabel has to this position.”
Businesses across Britain have incredibly complex needs and the pending introduction of new legislation requires a thorough and committed eye. To meet this demand, Grant Thornton’s commitment to growing and enhancing its tax support capabilities also recently saw Martin Verrall’s promotion to a Partner in tax transactions, as well as the arrival of number of school leavers, university graduates and placement students that started their careers in tax at Grant Thornton this September.
Thomas’ promotion comes after Grant Thornton recently welcomed several new joiners to its tax team; something Richardson believes showcases what they can achieve in the future. Meanwhile, Thomas will now bring her experience and expertise to Grant Thornton’s directorial team and “ensure that Grant Thornton helps companies to take the next step on their growth journey.”
Speaking on her new role, Thomas noted, “This is an exciting time to be taking up a leadership role in Grant Thornton’s Tax team. The South of England and Wales is full of creative and entrepreneurial companies that are always looking for new ways to grow, innovative and develop. Collaborating with them to unlock their potential requires a holistic approach that understands their circumstances and place in the international landscape. To achieve this, we’ll work closely with them to identify their needs and to make sure they understand the route forward.”
