As Capgemini Invent looks to build its capabilities in the growing design and brand experience segment, the consultancy has completed the purchase of Rufus Leonard.

“Clients are looking to embrace digital opportunities and continually re-invent themselves for true, long-lasting value and impact,” said Cyril Garcia, CEO of Capgemini Invent. “Rufus Leonard was a natural fit for us in terms of capabilities, clients and culture. I am delighted to welcome them to the firm.”

Capgemini Invent buys design and brand agency Rufus Leonard

Headquartered in London, Rufus Leonard boasts a 70-strong headcount, specialising in harnessing technology and design to enhance a brand’s potential. Its client base, including World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and AXA, and creative design expertise are highly complementary and additive to Capgemini Invent’s subsidiary frog.

At the same time, Capgemini Invent’s global scale and reach will bring new opportunities to Rufus Leonard and its clients. Meanwhile, the firm’s staff will also benefit in terms of their personal development and career opportunities.

Neil Svensen, Chairman and Founder of Rufus Leonard, commented, “We are excited by the Capgemini Invent’s approach to incorporating data into its customer centric design services, as well as its highly complementary culture and client base.”

Rufus Leonard walked away with the top prize at the 2021 Digital Impact Awards, after being named Digital Agency of the Year for its development of WWF UK’s My Footprint app. The ceremony took place at the turn of the year, and lauded Rufus Leonard for its “smart, timely and expertly executed” work with the global nature charity.

Laurence Parkes, CEO at Rufus Leonard, commented at the time, “We exist to help brands create category-defining impact, so we’re extremely proud of My Footprint. Thank you to WWF UK, and all our other brilliant clients who have chosen us to help them innovate in digital for a successful future.”

For Capgemini Invent, the deal comes shortly after it acquired financial services specialist Chappuis Halder. Earlier deals include the bolt-ons of Purpose in the United States (2020) and Konexus Consulting in Germany (2019).
